PEACE NEGOTIATIONS BROKEN.
Events in Russia have taken another— and very important—turn. : We are told in a cable to-day that peace negotiations have' beon broken off owing to Germany s attitude in regard to Poland and Lithuania. Some days ago we expressed the opinion that Germany, as the result of her exorbitant demands, would drive Kussia into the field again as an active enemy, and it would appear as if this will tske place. The bombastic Hun does not know how to deal with a delicate situation such as that in Bussia. A clever diplomatic nation in Germany's position could handle Russia successfully, but the Kaiser and Iris pack of murderers are doomed to failure. Germany may yet realise, as'we havo stated pre-
viously, that Eussia will be a strong thorn in her side The breaking-off of peace negotiations demonstrates the fact that those who at present control affairs in Eussia have not altogether lost sight of the country's honour.
