PRAYERS DURING WAR TIME.

At the. beginning of tlio wai , , Bishop Taylor Smith, the Chaplain-General of the Forces, requested that Christian people should every day at noon remember the troops in a few moments of silent prayer. The suggestion has been widely adopted throughout the Old Country, and the bolls of the parish, churches are being rung daily at midday as a signal to everybody who hears them to offer a short prayer to Almighty God for the protection of our gallant soldiers and sailors. The suggestion lias enmo from our Bishop that we. in this diocese, should strive, to observe this practice, and the church bell will, as far as possible, be rung every day at noon as a- reminder. The Bishop has also put forward a few suggestions ay to what he should pray for. and we give below a copy of the placard that has been placed in the church porch:— i Church Bells Will Eing Dairy at Noon. People of New Zealand. Pray. For victory in the cause of Freedom. For the forces of the King and of the Allies on land and sea and in the >'iir. For the sick, the wounded, and the dying. For the prisoners and the captives. l ;, or the bereaved and the destitute. For the restoration of peace among the nations. (''or the establishment, of God *s righteous Idngdom in the world. When yon hear a bell, say a short prayer. Wherever you are, whatever you are doiiiLT.
