A FOOL AND HIS MONEY.

At the Magistrate's Court, Ernest 'mtaltravers sued Sarah .lane Day. a Avid%>w, for £100, Avhich he alleged he lent her to pay,, off a mortgage, the money to be a free gift if they married; if not, to be repaid Avithout interest.
Plaintiff said that they had been engaged, but defendant cooled and finally broke off the engagement. He denied having ever threatened defendant with a revolver.
Defendant denied that the money Avas a loan. lie stated it Avas a free gift. No date for the marriage had ever been fixed. Plaintiff came to the house unexpectedly and asked her to marry him at once. She refused and he threatened her Avith a revolver.
Mi Kettle, S.M., said plaintiff's testimoJl'' was more reasonable. Defendant was evidently a clever woman, and plaintiff a fool. Judgment was given for plaintiff for £100, and costs £9 4s.
