FLOODING OWING TO A BREAK

HOKITIIvA, Monday
The Uoss mine was Hooded on Saturday, owing to a break in the water-race interfering with the working of the hydro-electric plant. The Diesel origin? was set in motion, but it was found that the water supply for cooling the engine was cut off, and it became necessary to draw the pumps. This was carried out successfully, and in addition to securing two motors one starter was also brought to the surface. Repairs are being effected to the race, and operations will be resumed in a- few days.
