MINISTERS ON TOUR.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TAURANGA, Wednesday. The lions. W. 11. Herries and W. Fraser reached Tauranga at noon to : day. They Avere met on arrival by the Mayor and representative public men and farmers of the district. The Ministers AA'ere accorded a public, welcome, and met Avith an enthusiastic reception. Both delivered short addresses, and Avere loudly cheered at tho conclusion. Te Mete Rau KaAva, a prominent Maori chief, also welcomed Mr Herries and his colleague on behalf of the Native race, and presented Mr Herries Avith an address. Mr Herries replied, and the Maoris signified their aproval of his remarks by dancing a spirited haka. At one o'clock the Ministers AA'ere entertained by the Mayor and Borough Council to a luncheon, at Avhich about fifty prominent residents also sat down. The toast of the lions. Herries aud Fraser was proposed, and duly honoured. Later in the afternoon they attended a garden party in the Domain, Avhere Mr Herries Avas presented Avith a testimonial from the people of Tauranga, as a souvenir of his first visit to the district as a Minister, and expressive of hearty congratulations on his elevation to 'Cabinet rank. Subsequently a large number of deputations Avaited on the Ministers at the Coronation Hall in reference to matters of local importance. This evening the Ministers were entertained at a complimentary banquet. They leave for Te Puke to-morroAv, via the raihvay from Mauuganiii. Thence they intend proceeding to Whakatane, Opotiki, and Roto run.
