THE COMPETITIONS.
|TO THE EDITOR. 1 Sir, —Considerable doubt exists with regard to the item Maori song which appears on the syllabus of the Competitions Society. If it is a truly Maori song then we, the public, are to have an unusual treat, but if it is to bo simply a song to be snug by a Maori we shall be disappointed. It is a pity that no effort is being marie to encourage our Maori friends to preserve the old songs, warlike and peaceful. Might I suggest that the Society add to their programme in this direction. —1 am, etc., MASTERTON. Masterton, May Ist, 1912.
