POSITION IN THE COUNTRY DISTRICTS
Mr R. W. M'Villy presided tit a meeting of the Wellington Centre, N. Z.A.A., on Monday evening. A letter was read i'roni the Manawatu Club, notifying fcliat at a meeting ot delegates' representing Woodville, Wairarapti, Levin and Manawatu Clubs, it was decided to point out to the Wellington Centre the necessity for fostering amateur clubs in the country districts. It was considered this could, be done by allocating , championships to some, of the eourtry clubs and by forming other clubs in those parts whore at the present time only professional spoits are held. Mr J. W. Nicholson, of the Wairarapa Club, attended in support of the suggestion. Mr W. L. Dunn moved that in the event of the New Zealand championships being held in Wellington, the provincial championships be held at Palmerston. Mr M'Villy announced that with a view to fostering country clubs he was prepared to present a shield for the purposes of a country champion - ship. The only stipulation he would make would be that the championships must be movable, and he held in different towns annually. The motion was lost and Mr M'Villy was accorded a vote of thanks for his offer. The Brooklyn Harriers notified that it would not bear any proportion of tho loss cm the lV)il cross-country championship tour.-—lt was decided to advise the Brooklyn Harriers that it would be required to pay. The application for affiliation from the Feiiding Harriers was forwarded on to the New Zealand Council. Messrs Cook, Lamberg and Scott were constituted a sub-committee to make arrangements for the 1912 crosscountry championship to be held in Wellington;
