MASTERTON TO PONGAROA.

In the course of a conversation with ■ix Daily Times reporter a local business man advocated tho establishment of a line of coaches from Masterton through tho Wangaehu Valley, Alfredton and Rakaunui to Pongaroa, a distance of about 45 miles. The journey would occupy a day-a halt being made for a change ot horses anil lunch at Alfredton—and tho service would go through a thickly-populated district.

The settlers in the localities named were anxious to get iuto touch with Masterton, and such a live of coaches would, he was sure, be welcomed by them. The service would, to a certain extent, be a substitute for the suggested light live railway through thflfr districts. As such a project would undoubtedly luring trado to Masterton, he was of opiuion that it was a matter the Chamber of Commons might well give consideration to.
