I The Eketahuna tennis piayers who I took part in the Masterton Tennis Tournament are loud in their praises of the excellent arrangements made for the meeting, and tbe kind manner in whioh they were treated. I have been particularly requested to mention that they are very pleased with all the arrangements, and the treatment received. The want of shelter and seating acuommodatiou was severely felt at tne Farmers' L T niou sports on Monday. Ladies had no option but to stand all day. This is particularly trying for ladies with young children. It is to be hoped that the Borough Council will see their way this year to provide the necessary conveniences. An interesting case was decided at the S.M. Court on Tuesday. When cutting up the land on the west side of Eketahuna, the Government reserved an area for milling purposes. The Eketahuna Council borrowed by special order £8500. The reserve was exempt from paying rates. Since then the Government had cut up the land and disposed of it. The Council charged the occupiers the special rate, and sued them for it, une case was decided on Tuesday against the County Cjounoii.ou the question of this special rate.
