While shrewd observers at Washington are still hopeful that Mr Tat't will yield to the advice of the Commissioners sent to Canada,tlie authorities at Ottawa apprehend that a trade war with America is imoiiueut. It is stated that if America imposes the maximum tariff Canada will reply with a .surtax of thirty-three aud a third per cent., aud prohibit the export of pulp wood air.l wood pulp.
