WANGANUI, Last Night
At aU'early hour this moruiug a fire broke out iv a boardiughouse in Wickstead Place—an old structure ofjfifteeu or twenty rooms. The lire was confined, by the efforts of the Brigade, to the eucl of the building. Ten boarders escaped with meagre clothing. One elderly man jumped out of au upstairs window, sustaining several cuts and bruises, aud straining a leg, and with his hair singed. The owner of the buildings is J. D. M'Betli, and it is occupied by Mrs Smith. The building was insured for £175, and the furniture for £1300, the latter iv the Queensland office.
