MAURICEVILLE COUNTY COUNCIL.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Mauriceville County Council was held on Saturday, there being present—Crs Forsberg, Dagg, Jackson, Perry aud Isackson. Iv the absence of the Chairman, Or Jackson was voted to the uhair. A copy of the new by-law with the Governor's endorsement was received from the Minister of Internal Affairs. A copy of Mr Martin Chapman's opinion re Wairarapa Local Bodies and maintenance of the Victoria Hospital was received from the Secretary to Local Bodies Conference. The Paymaster-General notified 2)ayment of annual subsidy on general rates collected. C. Burton and A. W. Miller wrote pointing out the urgent need for metal repairs ou north end of Mount Bruceroad. The Stock Inspector directed attention to blackberries growing on Bro-dersen's-road. Mr Hogg, M.P., forwarded copy of new Hospitals and Charitablo Institutions Bill. Mrs E. Dorset wrote complaining of the auuoyauce aud damage caused by stock straying on the roads. It was resolved to appoint J. Goodgame and P. C. Madsen as rangers on the roads. Messrs Mattson aud Larseu interviewed the Council respecting a family in necessitous circumstances, aud it was resolved to grant rations. Cr Isaksou was directed to make inquiries regarding a family receiving temporary assistance and notify the clerk as to whether it should be continued. Another recipient of charicable aid was granted seven days to agree to the conditions required by the Charitable Aid Board. A delegate was appointed to represent the Council at the election of a representative on the Charitable Aid Board, with instructions to vote for Mr A. W. Hogg, M.P. Cr Perry was appointed to represent the Council at the election of Masterton Hospital trustees. Repairs will immediately bo done on Mt. Monro-road East, and then metalling repairs are to be effected at McDonald's corner on Mangamahoeroad, after which the carts will be employed rounding up the Waugaehuroad at Kennedy's. Accounts amounting to £11(5 13s 10d were passed for payment. Tenders will be iuvited for the supply of 400 or 500 c. yds. of metal on Mauriceville North-road.
