At a meeting of the Carterton jfcrough Oouucil ou Tuesday night, amounting to £1193, including £704 10s iv connection with the street improvement work, were passed for payment. The geueral accouut was reported in debit £465 17s 7d. The report of the gas committee showed that 2(55,000 feet of gas had been manufactured duriug the mouth, of which 20,614 feet had been consumed by the street lamps, aud 5500 feet by the town clock. The report of the sauitary iuspector was satisfactory. It was reported that building permits to tlie value of £3SO had been issued duriug the mouth. It was decided to set up a committee to frame a suitable testimonial to Mr G. Y. Uautou, late Borough overseer. Mr P. W. Jackson was appoiuted acting-overseer tor the ensuiug three mouths at a salary of £3 a week.
Mr W. McLeod lias just had a new residence erected iv Martinborough.
The Welliugtou Education Board has decided to erect a uew room ou to the school at Martinborough.

The first auuual meetiug of tlie Featherstou Fresh Milk Supply Associatiou, to have beeu held ou Wednesday, lapsed for want of a quorum. It will be held uext week.
A public meetiug is to be held in Martinborough next week to consider the question of establishing a cottage hospital. At a meeting of the Management Committee of the Featherstou Gun Club, held on Tuesday eveuiug, Messrs T. Skipage aud J. S. Laureusou were appointed handicappers for the sparrow match to be held ou Saturday. Tlie vital statistics for Juue in Greytowu were-.—Births, 7; deaths, 3; marriages, nil. The Rev. W. J. Elliott delivered au interesting address to the members of the Cartertou Methodist Christian Endeavour Society ou Tuesday evening.
