THE DAIRYING INDUSTRY.
What it is Doing for Taranaki
A Taranaki contemporary shows what a gold-mine the dairy industry is to Taranaki, by stating that during the height of the present dairying season — viz., the months of December and January—the sum of £7-i,'835 was distributed among suppliers in the vicinity of Stratford by thirteen dairy factory companies. The individual payments were as follows:—Eltham, £10,000 (approximately); Stratford, £12,700 ; Mangatoki, £9000; Midhirst, £8900; Kapohga, £8000; Moa Farmers', £7800; Ngaire, £3290 ; Cardiff, £3266 ; Maketawa, £1060 ; Puniwhakau, £633 ; Makahu, £419. This, of course, is only a portion of the golden stream which will flow in for the season's output of butter.
