At 11 a.m., Mr Hemes' amendment to postpone the operation of the BiH, was lost by 31 to 17.

At 10.30 Mr E. G. Allen (Chalmers) entered into the discussion, behig followed by Messrs Duthie, Herdman and Massey—all on the motion to report progress.

At 12.15 p.m. Mr R. McNab (Mataura) relieved the chair.

At 1 p.m. tho Chairman moved the adjournment for lunch, which was carried on

the voices,

The Legislative Council met at 11 a.m

Several Local Bills passed their second readings and Committee stages.'
