The Sale of Work and Bazaar in aid of the local Presbyterian Church was continued on Thursday afternoon, and brought to a close in the evening, when a concert programme proved a feature of the function. For tho previous day of the bazaar, the sum of £83 was taken, and with tho takings of Thursday, tho church should benefit considerably financially. The Bazaar was principally got up to enable a debt on the church to be wiped off. At the gift auction on the afternoon of tho first day, some good prices were realised for various articles. A cauliflower brought 2s Id, a bundle of leeks Is 3d, a dozen of eggs 6s, and a loaf of home-made bread Is. At a summoned meeting of the Heart of Oak Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.U., the resignation of Bro. J. S. Pepper as delegate to the Friendly Societies Council was accepted with regret, and Bro. E. Eagle was elected in his stead. Bro. Wallia was elected Treasurer in place of Bro. Dawson, resigned. Bros. E. Eagle, Sparks, and Robinson were appointed a committee to interview the members wives, with a view to appointing them to help in the Friendly Societies sports. P.G. Bro. Sparks, presented P.S. Bro. Manning, with a handsomely framed emblem, as a mark of appreciation of his past services. The recipient suitably acknowledged tho gift. On Thursday the fences on the land abutting the Belvedere-road, and belonging to Mrs 11. B. Tucker, of Palmerston North, were moved back, to enable the footpath being made wider. The address given by the Very -Rev. Father Hays, at Greytown, on Wednesday night was not very largely attended. A drag load of passengers journeyed from Carterton, and were rewarded by hear'ug an interesting address. The funeral of the late Mrs 0, Reid, of Clareviilc, took place on Friday afternoon, the interment' taking place at Clarevillo cemetery. The local Druids Lodge was represented in the cortege, the bereaved husband being a member of that order. Six brothers of Mr C. Reid were the pallbearers, and the Rev. J. J. Bates, of the Presbyterian Church, conducted the service at the graveside. The Ahiaruhe cheese factory re-opens for the season on Monday. The boys' and girls' classes in connection with the Ic.al gymnasium are being well attended, but the men's class is very different in this respect. At the local Magistrate's Court, on Wednesday afternoon, before Messrs J. Brown and A. Bish, J's.P., a young man of unsound mind was committed to the Wellington Asylum on the certificates of Drs. P'jy aid Johnston. The total takings of the sale of work in aid of the Presbyterian Church amounted to £120.

Mr C. G. Smith, of Hastings, the wellknown cyclist, is at present on a visit to his to his relatives here.
