WOODVILLE NEWS.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Woodville, This Day. There was a very narrow escape from a serious accident near the Maharahara railway yesterday. Rapley's largo brake, with a live-horse team, was pulled up between the two bridges near the railway line, where the horses are usually given a drink. The driver had left the team for a few moments, when the noise of an approaching train startled the horses, which bolted. The front horse had just reached the line, when the train struck it and nearly cut it in two. The rest of the team and the brake were thrown into a ditch, but, strange to say, were not hurt at all.
Warm rain has been falling for the past few days. It will do an immense amount of good in the district.
Dairying will shortly be in full swing. The present prospects are for a record season.
