WAIRARAPA RACING CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Racing Club was held in the Forester*.' Hall, Greytown, on Thursday, about sixty members being present, Mr N. Grace ia the chair.

The balance sheet and report were circulated and taken as read. The Club having been in a flourishing condition, some of the surplus monies are being devoted to the building of more up todate accommodation for both men and horse?. These buildings, when complete, will be a credit to the Club and a great convenience to thos attending the race-meetings, ranking, as they will, with some of the best in New Zealand.

Tea new members were elected— vi::., Messrs C. J. Carlyon, H. W. Clay, A. E.

Waite, D. Cross, J

W. Orbell, J

Desmond, A Bsnton, W. Knapp, E. Walker and F. M. Burling. This brings the membership up to 297.

The election of officers then took place : — Vice-Presidents, Messrs H. J. 'Atldl, N. Grace and W. E. Bidwill ; dmlge, Mr Cr. Tully; Hon. Treasurer, Mr A. J. Toogood ;'Time-keeper, Mr T. Ronton ; Clerk of Scales, Mr W. Dalrymplc; Hon. Surgeons, Drs. W. Bey, A. E. Palmer and G. Deaincr.

The election of Stewards was then proceeded with, the candidates being the twelve retiring members from last year, ■who were all duly returned to office, Messrs G. Fenwick. G. G. Stewart and A. J. Toogood acting as scrutineers. Messrs A. H. Knowles and G. W. Cobb were elected as auditors.

It wars resolved to recommend to the incoming Stewards that the sum of not less than X's be paid to the third horse in each race. Stakes to the amount of £3000 were allotted for the coining season, with an extra .£IOOO if a steeplechase permit is available. To Mr G. lieynokls, who is resigning the Treasurership, was passed a unanimous vote of thanks for his past services, while the services of the Stewards were similarly recognised.
