{By Telegraph — Press Association),
Tijiarc, Last Night
At a moating of the executive of the South Canterbury Farmers' Union today, the petition to the Farmers' Cooperative Association against touting at auctions was supported, and the form of agreement to be submitted to auctioneers promising to avoid the practice was endorsed. A resolution was carried by five to two in favour of lessees in perpetuity being given the freehold. The reply of the Minister of Lands to the Christehurch City Council in reference to abattoirs and freezing works was approved. One member interested in grain shipments roundly condemned the subsidy to the South African steam service, declaring that it was useless to farmers.
