PERILS OF THE SEA.

Wanganui, This Day.
Word has been received in to wn that the scow, Surprise, was driven ashore two miles south of the Manawatu river, last night. She had a cargo of timber, consigned to a local merchant, and only a portion of it was insured. She has evidently been blown south by the heavy gale raging.
The scow is owned by the Mifcche lson Tiaaber Company.
