CARTERTON NEWS.
(From Our Own Correspondent)
A social was tendered Mr T. Sparks, senr., last evening, on his retirement from the Carterton Band, of which he has been a member for thirty years. He has been drummer for eighteen years of that time, and at tho social a silvermounted drum-stick wa3 presented to him, with the best wishes of the Bandsmen.
The Rev. Robert Young, Vicar of St. Mark's, at present taking Mr Harper's work as Vicar of the Palmerston parish, visited Carterton yesterday, and arranged with Rev. D. 0. Hampton, who is in charge of St. Mark's, to continue -.in charge for some time longer, as Mr Harper had asked for a little longer leave. I understand that Mr Hampton expressed himself as quite willing to continue on here as long as desiretl.
