FIRE AT LYTTELTON.
Orphanage Buildings Destroyed
(By Telegraph—Press Association) Christchukch, Last Night.
A fire at Lyttelton, this afternoon, destroyed the old orphanage buildings, on the Governor's Bay, Roslyn. A portion of the buildings was saved, and also some of the contents. The building and contents were insured for .£2IOO in the New Zealand, South British and National Offices, but the amount involved does not reach the figure. The building was owned by the Charitable Aid Board, and was occupied by thirteen children at the time of the fire, though most of them were away at school when the outbreak occurred. The cause of the outbreak has not been ascertained.
