LATE SPORTING.

Racing 1 at Home.

Liverpool Grand National.

Won by Moifaa

Started at 25 to 1.

(Received To-day, at 11.35 a.m.)

London, Last Night. The Liverpool Gran National Steeplechase resulted as follows : — Moifaa 1 Kukland 2 Gunner 3 The race was won by eight lengths. Moifaa started at 25 to 1. The King was present. Ambush, which was the favourite, fell at the second fence.

[In Turf Notes, in Thursday's paper, we gave some particulars of this great event. Moifaa's weight was lOst 7lbs. The event was won last year by Drumcree, aged, list 31bs. The distance is 4 miles 826 yards, and there are no less than sixteen " obstructions," in the way of fences, rails, ditches, etc., winding up with a water-jump fifteen feet in width. Moifaa started at 25 to 1, and his win must havo been a glad surprise to his backers and owner. Many New Zealaifcl sportsmen will heartily congratulate Mr Gollan in the result of his plucky endeavour to win the blue riband over country with a New Zealand-bred horse. We don't suppose there was a turf writer in the Colony who thought Moifaa had "the ghost of a show" for the Grand National, and it is only an illustration of the trite old saying that " it is the unexpected which happens." When racing in New Zealand, Moifaa carried the colors of Mrs Ellingbam.]
