"ELIJAH" DOWIE AT ADELAIDE.
Deliberately Insults the King.
Warned Not to Repeat His
Behaviour.
{Received To-day, at 10.22 a.m.)
Adelaide, This Day.
Dowie made an attack on the King, of whoso piety, he said, nobody could boast. Nobody imagined that he had much religion to spare. He (Dowie) only hoped the King had enough to get him to Heaven, but if he did it would only be by the skin of his teeth.
The Mayor has written to Dowie, stating that his remarks were an insult to every British subject, and that Dowie was a disgrace to his nationality. He was told that if he repeats the insults he will be summarily ejected from the Town Hall by the police.
