THE TARATAHI ROAD RACE.

The second road race, arranged by Messrs T. Dwyer and Co., took place yesterday afternoon, and was witnessed by a large number of people. The same course was traversed as at last race, namely, from the Kurupuni cross-roads ! to the Taratahi tannery and back again. Some twenty competitors started and the finish was close, the first three coming in within a few seconds of each other. Mr I. Wintringham, of the Byko, put up the fastest time, viz., 36min ssec. The winner turned up in J. Beatty (start 3min), time 36min lOsec; J. Hooker (4min), 36min 12sec, 2; T. W. Smith (3min), 36min 25sec, 3. The competitors found the road very rough, which accounts for the slowness of time. Mr Gr. H. Goodall acted as starter, and Mr A. Eodgers, timekeeper.
