MR T.G. MASON'S NEW PREMISES.

The two-storey brick premises, to be erected by Mr T. G. Mason, on the corner of Bannister and Queen-streets, will certainly be one of the finest buildings in the town. A leading Masterton builder, who is a competitor for its erection, states that no finer building, either for external appearance or internal arrangement, will be found in any "of the cities of the Colony. The premises show a frontage of 24 feet to Queenstreet, by 94 feet 3 inches. The ground floor will be devoted to a shop of dimensions 24 x 28, with office, surgery, dispensing-room, and bulk store at rear of shop. The second floor is apparently for dental offices, which includes dental, surgery, waiting-room, office, and anaesthetic-room. At the rear of the premises facing Bannister-street are two shops, each having a frontage of about sixteen feet, with a depth of twenty feet. One of these shops has a work-room and store-room at the back, with offices on the second floor. The second shop is arranged to suit a business where the proprietor is desirous of living on the premises, as it contains five living rooms with all necessary conveniences. The external appearance of the building will be of a most effective design. Bight on the corner of Queen and Bannister-streets, a dome-shaped turret rises 24 feet from the top floor, surmounted by flag pole, at the base of which are representations of pestle and mortar. Two handsome designs, worked in cement plaster, ornament tho dome. The windows in Mr Mason's shop, facing Queen-street, are to be of plate glass of a size of 12 x 10, with 16 x 12 in Bannister-street, with frames of polished cedar, with bent glass at corner of street. The verandah facing Queen and Bannister-streets is to be supported by iron columns, with roof of plain glass. Provision has been made for lighting the premises by between fifty and sixty gas connections, with fittings on an elaborate scale. The ex-, ternal walls are to be finished in brick and plaster. Drainage and sanitationwill receive the most careful attention.
