TOD SLOAN, THE JOCKEY.
Financially Embarassed.
Extravagance and its Consequences.
The friends of Sloan, the once famous American jockey, who was born and reared in Kokorna, Indiana, have received word that he is financially embarrased in Paris, and is working as chaffeur for a French automobile firm. His salary is said to be less that what he spent two years ago in a day. Tod Sloan's fall in two years has been great. When he travelled across the Continent in special trains, spent several days with foster parents and friends in Kokorna, carried friends in a special train to the Eockies, and entertained them on hunting trips, his expenses were JG22O a day. At that time his wealth was said to be £100,000, and his income £16,000 a year. Sloan's star fell when he was ruled off the English track. Afterwards he thought he could break the bank at Monte Carlo, with the usual result.
