Gladstone I. v. Masterton 11.

Seven all told of the Gladstone Club journeyed on Saturday to try conclusion with the Masterton juniors. On taking the field the visiting team was found to comprise a whole back division of Masterton Club players, with a solitary exception, and these from the third fifteen. The other six genuine supporters of the Gladstone Club made some characteristic charges in the vanguard, their display being an object-lesson to the local forwards. The local team actually defeated the above combination by one try and a penalty goal to nil, Kingdon, Welch and Rose played the best individual games for Masterton. Behind the scrum Taylor played a very decent game for Gladstone. The McEwen brothers gave a fair exhibition'of their pace.
