The Fit/.maurico Gill Company have done excellent business everywhere they have appeared in New Zealand. Even the great Melba made no difference in the attendance at the Company's performance as they occupied the Opera House, Wanganui, the night after Madame Melba, aud the house was packed from floor to ceiling. Mr ,T. C. Williamson put up a unique •' record," on a recent Saturday evening, when, for the first time for many years, he had no actual theatrical attraction in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide. Masterton audiences have always had a good name for being orderly, and this fact was again demonstrated last evening, when Mr Charles Blake, of the Fit/.maurico Gill Company, remarked to a representative of the Daily Times, that the audience at tho Town Hall, last evening, was one of the best behaved he had ever had tho pleasure of appearing before, John F. Sheridan is doing good business with " Fun on the Bristol," in Sydney. " Being well acquainted with New Zealand audiences," said Miss Fitzmaurico to a representative of the Waiiukai'a Daily Times, last evening, " I fully understand what suits them, and accordingly my repertoire contains carefully selected pieces." The wisdom of Miss Fitzmaurico Gill's selection of pieces is clearly shown by the excellent business the company has had during their tour. As showing how the fame of the Fitamauricc Gill Company preceded them, it may be stated that at the " Sign of the Cross," last evening, visitors were present from all parts of the district, a considerable number coming from the Lower Valley, Greytown, Carterton and Eketahuna. Tho advance agent for Mr J. C. Williamson's Dramatic Company, Mr George Mathieson, arrived in Masterton, yesterday, to mako the necessary arrangements in connection with the Company's appearance in Masterton. The Town Hall has been engaged for the 18th and 19th inst., aud the pieces to be played are " Sherlock Holmes " and " If I Were King."
