MASTERTON COUNTY COUNCIL.
A special mcet'ig of the Masterton County Council was held yesterday \gtitcinoon. There were present: Mr C. Cockburn-Hood. in the cha : v, and Messrs Eli Smith, W. J, Welch, W. Harris, and J, Wingatc.
The meeting was held for confirming by-laws (as previously published) which were read by the Clerk, and after discussion, conlinncd,
Several delects were po'.ited out with regard to the heavy-traffic clause, after the by-laws had been continued, and on the motion ot the Chairman, n committee was appointed to go into the heavy-traffic by-laws and determine what part of the County should bo relieved from their operation; the committee to meet on the Wednesday previous to the next JttiiMiy meeting. The Chairman also gave notice of amending the heavy traffic by-laws to make them applicable to pat.s of the County. A letter was received from the District Health Officer advis'ig in reference to fumigation of dwell' lgs. where an outbreak of infectious disease had occurred.
The letter was received, f An agreement was received from the Survey 'Department covering it £4OO grant for the A!fredtoii-road. , ' The Chairman was authorised to sign ' jftagrocmcht.' A, Wi Hogg, J1.11.11., wrote,, jntjiijatirig that the schedule qf works re- . quired had been forwarded to the Lands Department, with a recommendation . tint they be proceeded with. An agreement in reference to a grant of Ml 19s 2d for the Kaiwhata-road was received from the Chief Eng' icer of roads, " |hc C|ork mcntioi]cd that the grant . was available several years ago! but it was somehow lost sight of, However, the properties interested were being included in the South Wairarapa County * and the Clerk suggested that the g.imt be transferred to that body, which was agreed to.
