THE WINE DUTIES.

The Right Hon, G. H. Reid, the Premier, on behalf of the Premiers of Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland and Tasmania has instructed the AgentGeneral to make certain representations to the Right Hon. J. Chamberlain, Secretary of State for the Colonies, with reference to the duties on colonial wines.
The conteuts of the message have uot yet been disclosed,

In tlio House of Commons, Sit' M. Hicks-Boach, Obniicellor of the Exchequer, roplying to a question by Mr T. B. Curran, M.P, for the North Donegal, in reference to the new wine duties, admitted that the New South Wales tariff was relatively favourable to Groat Britain, but said that £l5O was the amount represented by the duty 011 the wines imported from Now South Wales, and that was not sufficient to justify a departure from the settled fiscal policy of the country.
