Tho Secretary of tho Canterbury Jockey Club has communicated lliu following to the local pnporo:— " Tho Canterbury Jockey Club having mado an exhaustive inquiry into the allegation that Matthew Harnett offorod Porcy White £IOO to poll Chasseur in tho Stewards' Handicap at the club's spring meeting, is of opinion that the contradictory ovidenco is insnilicient to warrant tho disqualification of Harnett or White. As it was olicitcd in cvidonco that certain traiuors and jockeys have been in tho habit of accepting presents from bookmakers, tho club hereby warns them that such practices will be considered n serious objection to tho renowal of their licenses."
