PRESENTATION TO MR B. J. DOLAN AND JHSS NORAII CARRICK.
Tho pupils attending St. Patrick's School were dismissed yesterday for the Midsummer holidays, the pass-cards in connection with the Wellington Technical School and the Annual Diocesan Examination being distributed to the successful candidates. Special prizes for English composition were awarded to the following:—Seventh Standard, A. Brzoska; Sixth Standard, M. Chapman ; Fifth Standard, J. Collins; Fourth Standard, F, Coyle. Tho Ucv. Mr Dolan had had charge of tho school for tho past six years and his teaching during that time was of the most successful character possible. He had not only been successful, but also popular as tho presentations he was about to nnko would amply testify, Miss Carrick had now been teaching at St. Patrick's for eleven years, Her work during that time had been excellent and she had gained the entire confidence of pupils and parents. Father McKenna then presented Mr Dolan, on behalf of the children, with a handsome silver-mounted pipe, and on behalf of tho Committee with a solid silver combined matchbox and sovereign case, suitably inscribed, and Miss Carrick with a valuable velvet purse and a biscuit barrel. In doing so, tho Eev. Father added that Miss Cissy Hourigan, the pupil teacher, also deserved great praise for her successful efforts during her year of office. Mr Dolan, and Mr Stempa (on behalf of Miss Carrick), having suitably replied, the children dispersed for the holidays, hearty cheers being given for tho teachers and Father McKenna.
