(From Our Own Correspondent). Monday. TheEcv. Kobert Wood, of your town, preached a most impressive sermon in the local Presbyterian Church yesterday morning,
It is probable that the Kev. Mr Eitchic will be asked to succeed Mr Chas. Murray in this district. A heavy thunderstorm passed over this district yesterday afternoon, the rain descending in torrents. Many persons who were unfortunate enough to be caught in it were literally drenched through,
Mr Alfred Watson, brother of Mr Sid Watson, o£ the Manaieaiu Times, was brought into the Greytown Hospital on Friday evening last from Cross' Creek. He is seriously ill. The Kev, J. Thomas gavo a lecture in the Wesleyan Church last evening, his subject being" Industry on six Legs." Tho text was taken from Proyerbs," Go to the ant thou sluggard." A wedding cake is at present on view in Mr H. Duff's window. " Coming events cast their shadows before." I hear that the cake is to tho order of a well-known resident near Carterton. The principal party is a well-known footballer residing near your town, and the lady hails from a pretty little district near Carterton.
