Arrangements will be mado next week in the direction of supplying whatever material it may be decided upon to use for lining the tunnel and otherwise finishing this part of the work. The extra repairs required on the Castle Hill-rond, to place it in a condition for summer traffic, has been fulfilled by the roadman formerly in charge ol the section, and he is now employed on similar work between Messrs Girdwood's and W, M. KcbbeH's homesteads on the Springvnle-i'oad. AU'IIEDTOK OI'TLYIXfI DISTRICT.— Contracts have been let and are now in progress for making repairs to the Maegatakato, lit. Laker and J'ecp-o-day-roads, and repairs authorised at last meeting of the Council have also been done on Barton's bridle track. No reply has been received at yet to suggestions made to Mr P. Clapliam with respect to proposed road works on the Flat Busla Line and a further communication will therefore have lo be made lo him on the suhjecl. Jlrpnirs to the Ihuraua-road have been held over ut Mr 11. Benton's instigation until 1 have arranged lo meet him on the ground during my next visit to the district. WIIAIIE.UU OOTLYISG JJISI'IIICT Blairlogie and East Coast-roads.-Ad-ditional assistance has been afforded the man on the Blairlogie length lo enable him to re-open the cuttings between Blairlogie and Cripps', which had been blocked during the winter with Minill land-slips. The work is now completed, and the extra man dispensed with. On the southern length timber has been supplied to the roadman to make repairs to damaged bridges and culverts on the road under ids charge.
