(Fmm Our Own Correspondent). The weather for lie holiday on Wednesday fortunately turned out line w and all holiday-seekers wcro able to thoroughly enjoy themselves. The cricket match on tho tare between (he Wellington Phoenix Club and the local Club attracted a fair number of people during tbo day and both teams spent a pleasant time together, the . former gaining an victory. ■ - The Band of Hope picnic in Hnros paddock was fairly well attended and a happy timo was spent by those present. Tho farewell social tendered to the Key. Cbas. Murray on Tuesday evening last, in tho Foresters' Hall, was a great success. The ball was well hlled with a topresenlativo audience, comprising members belonging to all denominations. Ji'arewell speeches were made and musical items rendered during tho evening. Befresbments wero handed round by. tbo ladies and a most sociable and happy oreniog was spent by all present. The rev. gentleman Ijivat ranch esteemed in this district and Ignoral regret is felt at his departuro, but ' be takes with him the best wishes of his jaany friends,
