A BIG SALVATION GATHERING.

AT THE MASTEIITON DRILL HALL.

Tho great musical meeting, which for days past had been announced to take place in the Drill Hall, was an unqualified success. Shortly after seven last night the doors were opened, and by tho time the meeting commenced there wore close on six hundred persons present, Major and 'Mrs Holdaway, Captain Scott and Lieutenant Tamatca met with nn enthusiastic reception, and from start lo finish the audience seemed to enjoy themselves to tho fullest extent.

The playing of tho hand-bells was a pleasing feature of the meeting, whilst the selections on tho musical glasses, zylaphono and glass dulcimer were much appreciated, The singing of Lieutenant Tamatea, more especially in the rendering of " The Holy City," roused the audience to such an extent that at the conclusion tho applause was deafening, and it was only when Major Holdaway jpromised she would sing "Behold ■me Standing at tho Door" that they wore pacified. This item, also, was thoroughly enjoyed. Tho addresses by each of the visitors wero full of logic, and were delivered with mnch power and earnestness. The meeting closed at a lato hour, everybody appearing to have thoroughly enjoyed tho treat provided by the visitors, who left by tho noon train for Pahiatua to-day, Caplain Walter Dixon, officer in charge of tho Masterton Corps, escorting the visitors to the Station.
