ORIGINAL POETRY.

'BEAUTY. Beauty's deceitful, 'tis often a shield, Hiding vileness and virtue's decay. In the mom it is fresh as the grass of the field, In the evening it fadetli away. A heart pure and faithful too frequently kneels To Boautjr disfigured by sin,, For the face of anangoltoo often conceals The heart of (i demon within, •The face may be fair, the complexion be clear, Cheeks rosy, eyes fawnlike and bright, But oh, hew often does Tatan appear In the form of an angel of light! Each movement may teem with refinement and, grace, And the lips be adorned with a smile, But though'sweet the expression* and lovely the face The heart may be poisoned and vile. • The only true beauty is that of the heart, When .faith and pure feelings abide, . And though lovely the faco, it must horror impart When governed by falsehood and -pride, Without holiness, woman no matter how fair, Is no mora f lun a flower decked clod, \ Whilst the humblest' and fairest that 1 liveth in prayer Is arrayed in tho beauty of God, fIOJIRA.
