HEAVY DAMAGE.
BUSH FIRES IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA. (Per Press Association —Copyright). Australian Press Association. United Service. PERTH. This Day. Damage estimated at between £50,000 and £70,000 has been done by bushfires which enveloped the greater part of North Oanoalup, near Piujarra. Driven by a fierce wind the flames consumed large stocks of timber. All inhabitants of the district assisted in stopping the progress of the fire by means of making breaks. After strenuous fighting lasting all night they managed to prex'ent the fire crossing into thousands of acres of cleared country and therby saving their homes.
