WAIMATE PROGRESSIVE DOUBLES' TOURNAMENT In pleasant weather, the Waimate Bowling Club held a progressive doubles’ tournament on the Club’s green yesterday. The tournament was to have been held on New Year’s Day, but rain made postponement necessary. The green, was in beautiful condition. After the rain, it was scythed all over and carefully prepared; and the- improvement was very noticeable. Twenty-eight bowlers took part; and the winners were: — Skips’ prize—E. W. Travers (81 points). Leads’ prize—J. Boyd (85 pts.). Other good scores were: Skips—G. B. Creemer 71pts, C. Jaekson and C. S. Hood 67,. C. G. Holmes and J,. B. Robinson 64. Leads—T. Dyer 74pts, W. Seott 69, J. Manchester and D. W. Officer 64. DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT. FOUR WAIMATE ENTRANTS. Four Waimate bowlers intend competing in the Dominion championship bowling tourney to he field in Wellington commencing early next week. They’ are Messrs A. Bli - ster, C. G. Holmes, F. Akhurst ami T E. Parry. The party leaves W.iiraate on Saturday. The quartette will take part in Ihe rinks, pairs and singles championships. The rink will be Inkster (s), Holmes, Akhurst, Parry; and the two pairs, Inkster (s), and Parry, Holmes (s), and Akhurst.
