(Per Press Association —Copyright) ADELAIDE, Dec. 19. In the Sheffie'd Shield match, South Australia, in the first innings against New South Wales made 500 (V. Richardson 157, Schneider 82, A. J. Richardson 64, Alexander 55, Pritchard 40, Grimmett 48). Mailey took 6 wickets for 191, Kippax 2 for 50. New South Wales has lost three wickets for 203 (Steele 28, Phillips 54, Andrews 66, Kippax 30).

The weather was fine, and the wicket good. Richardson’s was a great knock, his score being made in 222 minutes, making his average for Sheffield Shield matches this season 128. Grimmett played lively cricket. Maidey troubled the others, capturing six wickets. The visitors handled the bowling freely, and scored rapidly. MELBOURNE, Dec. 19. In the Sheffield Shield match, Queensland, playing against Victoria, made 147 (L. Oxenham 19, Gill 36, Higgins 19). Blackie took 4 for 49, Morton 3 for 39. Victoria has lost no wickets for 108 (Woodfull 50, not out, Ponsford 58, not out). The wicket was covered during the heavy rain the previous day, and was unaffected, but the outfield was sodden and slow. The visitors made a poor showing against the bowling of Blackie and Morton. The Internationals, Woodfull and Ponsford, made an excellent opening for Victoria, handling the bowling with great freedom. SYDNEY, Dec. 18. In grade cricket, owing to the rainsoaked pitches, several matches were postponed, and scoring was low in the others. For Paddington, against Waveriey, Watgon made 71. Fob- Cumberland, against Glebe, Clarke took 4 for 38. For Cumberland, Bosley took 5 for 74.
