Per Pres* Association—Copyright. GISBORNE, March 22. At the Supreme Court, George William W right, found guilty on two charges of maiming a horse, was sentenced to four years’ reformative treatment. The judge stated that the case was one of revolting cruelty. The prisoner had made a practice of torturing and maiming dumb animals. For two years past a number of mares were found dead in the Whakatane and Opotiki districts under mysterious circumstances, and the Judge had no doubt that accused was responsible for the death of these animals. Since the trial the skeletons of nine mares have been found in a gully near where he was living. WELLINGTON, March 22.
