The Times says thtjt Capltain Hammer, the Danish explorer, has arrived to make final arrangements for Captain Amundsen’s attempt to fly across the North Pole from Spitzbergen, via Alaska. It is proposed to start at the end of July and the actual flying time, it is estimated, will be from 24 to 26 hours.

The machines are being constructed at Pisa and are two large Dornier whole type, costing £BOOO each. The radius of action is 1300 miles, and they are capable of landing on ice or water.

The stopping places will depend on circumstances. .

It is emphasised that the venture is in no way concerned with the annexatio o fterritory, but is solely in the interest of scientific research.
