SOLDIERS’ GRAVES.

Per Press Association — Copyright. LONDON, May 21. The Australian Monumental Section attending the soldiers graves in France and Belgium has been demobilised - Probably the work will be completed by civilian labour. Meantime it is reported that some monuments are in bad condition and threaten collapse. Some were never properly finished. Nothing has yet been done in connexion with Mr Hughes’s proposal to spend £250,000 in erecting a memorial at Villers Bretonneux.

Peasants are apparently assuming that the scheme has been abandoned, and are commencing to grow crops on the land acquired by the Commonwealth.
