Baynes is impressing critics and is stationed at Marlow Rowing Club’s headquarters with Towns. Bayues rows twice daily over a course the same length as Henley and similar in many respects, doing long paddles interspersed with short periods at a racing stroke. Henley regatta opens on July 15. Baynes’s most formidable opponents are Beresford of the Thames Club,-who won the “Diamond” in 1920, and Gollan of the Leander Club, also the representatives of America and Switzerland.

Baynes looks the picture of health and is highly popular on the Thamesside.

SYDNEY, May 21. At the Stadium Vince Blackburn knocked out Jack Green in the 13th round. The finish came as a surprise as Green had all the better of the contest till then. Blackburn landed'lieavy blows right to the point of Green’s chin and following up this advantage, floored Green who took the count.

McCLEARY WINS ON POINTS. HEAVY WEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP CHRISTCHURCH, May 21. there was a huge crowd at the King Edward Barracks to witness the fight between Brian McCleary, Christcliurch, and Albert Pooley, Auckland, for the professional heavy weight championship of New Zealand and a purse of £195. The contest went the full 15 1 minds, and McCleary was adjudged the winner on points. Pooley put up a good fight but McCleary was too clever.
