« DOMINION TOURNAMENT. DUNEDIN, January 11. The Dominion Bowling Tourney opened this morning in dull weather. Owing to heavy rain yesterday afternoon . and over night the greens are heavy. Play to-day was confined to singles. Eleven greens are being utilised. The weather necessitated a delay in the start of play. There were 198 players competing iu the singles, which are being played on eleven greens. For the pairs 'competition, which will be played on Friday and Saturday there are 20S entries, and for the rinks, which commence on Monday, 110 teams arc competing. WAIMATE COMPETITORS C. E. Manchester was beaten by Kerr (Maste r ton) in the third round in section A, by 25 to 16. In section 8., C. E. Manchester met his Waterloo in the fourth round losing to Amtman (St Clair) by 9 to 23. J. Goldstone was beaten by J. Johnson (Dunedin) in the first round by 27 to 13, and by Robertson (N.E. Valley) 20 to 19 in the third round of section H. Laing still remains ip the competition, having bad two wins and a bye.
