THE FIRST TEST.
SPRINGBOKS’ MATCH AT DUNEDIN. Press Assn.—By Tel. —Copyright. DUNEDIN, August 12. Cold rain showers, accompanied by a strong wind from the north, made the prospects for tomorrow’s test not too bright, but by 10 o’clock tliis evening a decided change for the better took place, the clouds dispersing and a stiff breeze from the north east gave the hope that the ground would have recovered sufficiently for good play when the game commences tomorrow afternoon. These hopes are confirmed by a gradual rising of the barometer.
The town is full of visitors the trains arriving, to-day being crowded, and should the weather conditions be favourable it is anticipated that the gate will eclipse all previous records. It it now definitely announced that McLean will be unable to play, and Fogarty (Taranaki)'will take his place. Dunedin, this day.
The weather is improving and the prospects are good for the Test. There is a large influx of visitors, and the ground promises to be in good order. INTENSE FEELING. “Argus” telephoned the Advertiser last night from Dunedin that there were immense crowds in town for the match. The feeling between the rival teams, he stated, was much more intense than had been stated. SPRINGBOKS LEA.D
