OBITUARY.

MRS YOUNG. After a long illness and an apparent recovery, Mrs Young, of Coronation Street, passed away peacefully last evening about sewn o’clock, while sitting chatting at Hie fireside. The deceased lady, Avho had attained the age of 77 years, was one of the worthy pioneers of South Canterbury. With her husband (who pro deceased her in 1908) she left Berwick in 1862 on hoard the "Queen of the Mersey" for Lyttelton. Arrived in fins ucay land, they soon found occupation, Mr Young being employed as a shepherd, first at Albury and then at Three Springs. After a brief residence in Timarn he took up land for himself, first at the Cave, and then at Pleasant Point. It tvas at Pleasant Point that the family was reared, and that the Avo r thy parents resided for fifty years till they sold out nearly 1G years ago, and came down to live in Allan Street, Waimate, when Air Adam Young, their third son, purchased the farm he still holds at Waihaorung-a. The other sons, are Messrs John Young( machinery warehouseman, Wanganui ; David Young Timaru; and Thomas Young, auctioneer Palmerston North; and the daughters Mesdames J. F, Johnston, Otaio; D.
