The operations of the Limn Option*.

Limited will necessarily cause a large

amount of heavy - traffic on Adair’* Load. The roadway is at present in a very unsatisfactory condition, and wove tlie road grader to ho employed

on it for a short time a very great improvement would he effected. One oi the difficulties to he surmounted by the representatives of those who are investing their capital on the Rimn Flat and other areas adjacent thereto, will be the cost the transporting the necessary machinery and plant. Such being the case the local authority, should provide every facility so as to encourage

as much as possible the development ol

the mining resources of this district. Wc understand that Adair’s, road is constructed to within a comparatively short distance of the Ross-Hokitika railway line, and it has boon suggested i that the County Council might obtain a grant from the Government to mak* the connection. If this were accomplished it would obviate the uecssity of carting the whole of the gear for some miles, and the cost to the investors would he reduced considerably. The large tract of auriferous country, through which Adair’s road passes is expected to be operated on in the near future, and it behoves the powers that be to offer every inducement to those who are willing and anxious to develop it as soon as it is possible to do so, The suggestion, we consider, is well worth the consideration of the Council. In any ease it is to he hoped that a much needed and immediate improvement will he made to the road on which there is a good deal of traffic at the present time.
