New Zealand J’imes, a claim for £ISOO damages, q|ms been postponed till the next session of the Supreme Court, The adJpurnment was made on the application. of .defendants, owing to tho abjance from the Dominion of a material witness. THEFT OF BEER. .DUNEDIN, June 24.—David Handlibal Waldic and John Little, two railway shunters, convicted last week Ct stealing beer at Mosgicl, by tapping barrels sent to Dunedin, app ared for sentence this morning, hj s:• .probation officer’s report presented to tho Magistrate stated that Waldic was involved to. the fullest pstent and that circumstances concerning the two ; men were quite different. He would extend clemency to Little, who had been in custody for seven.days and fine him £lO or in default one month's imprisonment. Waldic would be sentenced to two .months' imprisonment with hard labour. OBSTRUCTING THE FOOTPATH. DUNEDIN, Juno 24.—At tho Police Court this morning Herbert Holt, manager of the Norwood, Von Arr Theatrical Company, was fined £2 for obstructing the footpath, by exhibiting a hypnotised man in a shop window.
